You have probably heard this phrase a hundred times if you have spent any time in Neville Goddards work.
Live in the end.
And you have probably wondered what it actually means in practice. Because it sounds clear until you try to do it, and then it gets murky fast.
Here is the exact distinction that makes it work.
Thinking OF vs. Thinking FROM
Most people, when they think about their desired reality, think of it. They think about the house they want, the relationship they want, the income they want. They picture it, they analyze it, they desire it, they work toward it.
All of this is looking at the desired reality from the outside. From a position that is not inside it. From the perspective of someone who is here, looking over there.
Living in the end is different. Living in the end means thinking from the desired reality. From inside it. From the perspective of someone for whom it is simply already the case.
Not looking at the new house from your current apartment. Looking back at your old apartment from the new house.
Not looking at the healed body from inside the illness. Looking back at the illness from inside the healed body.
Not wanting the relationship from outside it. Being in it. From the inside.
What That Feels Like
When you are genuinely living in the end, the desired reality is not something you are pursuing. It is your present context. The background of your inner world rather than the object of your striving.
You are not focused on getting it because you already have it. The conversation you are having is from the position of having it. The way you feel about yourself is the feeling of someone who has it. The quiet background sense of your life is the settled quality of someone whose desired reality is simply their actual reality.
This is why Neville kept saying the sabbath, the rest that follows completed creation. When you genuinely live in the end, you stop working for the thing. It is done. You rest.
Live from the end and watch what follows.
That peace and rest of the sabbath automatically follows when you accept your desire in its fullness and live from the end.
